Calling All Hardware Jonesers…
Dell has just released a new ultraportable laptop, the X1. Apparently, it’s a relabeled Samsung Q30, and the specs are impressive for a laptop as small as it is. I especially like the 12 inch Wide XGA (1280×768) screen. I imagine that movies and HDTV shows would look great on a laptop with a nativev 16:9 ratio. Integrated Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet ain’t to shabby either.

PSP Photo Viewer Fun
AHHH….my brand new PSP just threw the Blue Screen Of Death!!!

Just kidding!
I love the photo viewer on the PSP….it’s an excellent medium for sharing photos with people. The screen is sharp and vibrant, and panning and zooming around the image is pretty simple to do.
Metreon Shenanigans
Some friends and I went to San Francisco last night to try and score some PSP’s fresh off the boat. It was a pretty cool scene, there were lots of people there and a friggin’ huge PSP hanging from the garage on 4th and Mission. They were passing out shirts and beanies and stuff for free…pretty decent swag. We all got our goodies and it was a lot of fun…..but the 4 hour wait was pretty grueling. One nice little bonus: we all got free keychain wifi finders with our PSP’s…..NEAT-O! I’ll try to post some pictures soon.

What’s the holdup, Vonage?
Ever since the press release from Vonage annoucing that they would be offering a WiFi based handset for use with their service, I have been eager to sign up. Almost four months after the press release, and no further info has been announced. I’ve called several times asking when the new phone would be available, and most of their operators have no idea what I’m talking about. Maybe I’m the only nerd waiting for the new phone, but I sure wish they would hurry up and release it. I’m not real keen on having to jack my regular phones into a “broadband adapter”.
Finally, a good use for Macs
Fedora Core 4 Test 1 is now available and it supports the PowerPC architecture. Sw33t!
Whimpy Arm Wrestling Robots
When I first heard about this Arm Wrestling Robot Arm project, I thought, “Who, in their right mind, would want to try and arm wrestle a robot?” I pictured a dismembered Terminator T100 arm sitting there, all cold and metallic, with pneumatic oil running down the forearm, waiting to crush the hand of whatever meat puppet dared to challenge it…
Then the news breaks today that three different robot arms beaten by 17 year-old girl! Beaten by a GIRL?!?! Take that, Skynet!
