Gigabit Ethernet USB 2.0 Adapter…Is That Possible?
Seen in a recent Fry’s ad: AirLink 101 GIGABIT FAST ETHERNET USB 2.0 ADAPTER $19.99
I’m curious how they can get GIGABIT FAST ETHERNET over a USB 2.0 interface, considering that USB 2.0 taps out at 480Mbps and GIGABIT ETHERNET is rated at 1000Mbps. This must be a pretty fancy device to do that…..or it’s a piece of junk and they figure most people have no idea what the bus speeds are of USB versus Gigabit Ethernet. The sad part is that they’re probably right…most people won’t have a clue.
Padded List Prices On Amazon.com
I was checking out bluetooth mice on Amazon when I noticed what appeared to be a pretty hot deal, a Kensington mobile bluetooth mouse that lists for $99.95 was on sale for $57.99. That’s a savings of $41.96, not too shabby. But wait! Kensington’s website shows a list price of $69.99 for the same mouse! That means it’s really only a savings of around $13.

Same goes for the Kensington Pilot Mouse – Bluetooth, listed on the Kensington site at $69.99. Amazon shows the list price at $79.95.

It’s probably just random pricing errors, but it also makes you wonder whether Amazon is padding the list prices on certain items to make the amazon price seem sweeter. The Amazon price on the mobile bluetooth mouse shows a savings of 42% off “list” price. The true savings would be around 16%….not nearly as appealing as 42% off.
