I agree with most of this.

1. tv on a phone is just pointless. it is, however, pretty popular in japan. i think tv on the phone is shrug-city, but teenagers showing each other home videos on their phone is probably how it will play out.

2. i too was enamored by gps enabled pda's, and probably disenfranchised around the same time you were, for pretty much the same reasons.

3. pop is still the simplest mail protocol. It operates exactly the same as imap when you tell the client to leave a copy on the server. eh. whatever. email is old skool anyway. only old asses like you will be using email in 5 years. personal rss channels and and IM integrated with contacts, plus a simple mechanism to view chats as "email" will be the scene.

4. Everything LG is shit. I think Gaza is the only one who buys that shit.

5. Podcasting is all hype, but it is a good way to listen to talk shows, documentaries, audio books, and what will be coming down the pike---which is stuff like book chapters in audio as podcasts, niche shows (think of the knitting club I belong to (you know, the one your mom attends too), and how I can get 24/7 digital audio news about knitting), plus lots of other junk. Many people just like stuff read to them.

6. You know how people tell you to learn cobol and fox pro, so you can make a good living keeping legacy systems going years after they are useful? Keep-on keeping-on with the Microsoft keep-on-truckin-with-ballmer badwagon, and you are going to be one of these "legacy sentinels." God bless you!
