IKEA Bookshelf with hidden compartment
Check out this KOOL ikea bookshelf. When you add a special shelf insert, it leaves some space in the back that makes a perfect compartment that you can use to stash stuff in. Being the N3RD that I am, I decided it was the perfect place for a cable modem, router, and TV power supply.

The end result was that I was able to stash a bunch of nerd gear out of sight and there are no visible TV wires. KOOL!
Nerd Alert!
Kevin Rose is a nerd [yes, that’s a compliment]. He did some pretty neat hacks on TSS, but Digg is his real claim to fame. He was recently interviewed by gadgetall, and the picture of him that they included with the article reminded me of this other NERD I know:
Look familiar?
Dell = Pwn3d by Google
Just got in a Dell Latitude D810 Laptop for one of our corporate users. I’ve always liked the Latitude Series of laptops, as they are targeted for business users and are decent looking and pretty powerful, plus Dell doesn’t preinstall a bunch of useless junk software….until now.
Imagine my surprise when I fire up the machine for the fist time and OH KOOL, it’s a Google Terms of Use pop-up for Google desktop search and Toolbar. The first thing I did after clicking thru the ToU was to uninstall Google desktop, cause it’s pretty much junk. I left the toolbar cause it has it’s uses.
Google is starting to get on my nerves….but their maps and search are just too darn spiffy, so I’ll let it slide this time.
Update: SiliconBeat just posted about this (0ld n3ws!) as well…
